  8. Personal Odyssey of Kitty Dukakis will not be published until
  9. September, but a number of Hollywood people, including Carol
  10. Burnett, have already inquired about movie or TV rights. One
  11. of Kitty's friends describes the memoir as "an unbelievably
  12. frank and honest personal story." The author discusses her
  13. struggles with drug and alcohol dependency, the Dukakises'
  14. prickly relationship with Jesse Jackson, and her sense of
  15. desolation at the loss of the 1988 election. The book does not
  16. disclose the couple's future plans, but there is speculation
  17. that Kitty is pressing her husband, once his term as
  18. Massachusetts Governor ends in January, to return to a job
  19. somewhere in academe.
